Ancient Greece – History and Activity Packet

Continuing my trek through the ancient civilizations, my next stop is Ancient Greece.  I had also traveled to Greece during my European trip back in college.  From the island of Corfu to the Acropolis in Athens, it was also a great time – especially Athens!  Seeing the Parthenon and other temples on the Acropolis was a thrill. In researching the Greeks for a teaching packet, I started with a little bit of their history and basic vocabulary, followed by Greek Stories.  The Greeks were great writers, with legends, myths …

Ancient Egypt History, Literacy and Math Activies

When I was in middle school, I loved studying the Egyptians as part of the Ancient Civilizations unit.  It is hard to believe their culture remained untouched for thousands of years!  I mean, the USA has only been a country for a little over 200 years, and we think the colonial Americans were a long, long time ago. Then, when I was in architecture school, I studied the art and architecture of the Egyptians and was fascinated by their pyramids and temples.  So much so that when I had …

Space, the Solar System and Planets Activity Packet

Space, the Final Frontier …No, no – this will not be a Star Trek blog post.  Instead, I’d like to tell you about a fun activity packet about Space that I just finished!  Here’s the cover: I put this cover together using some clip art from a couple of my KP Clipart Space sets – Space Backgrounds and Space Buddies.  Then, throughout the activity packet, I also used clip art from my KP Clipart Space Planets and Rockets set and Solar System and Planets set.  I also had …

Pirate Activity Packet

Arrrrr matey!  Who doesn’t love pirates?  Well, except for all of the plundering they did back in the day … but now, looking back in history, they seem to have some sort of romanticized reputation.  Children now see pirates as these funny characters full of adventure – which makes pirate-themed teaching materials so great for learning. For this activity packet, I started by assembling all of the clipart I wanted to use.  Some of it were bits and pieces I had collected in preparation for my own set of …

Castle Activities!

I have always loved castles.  As a kid I was always fascinated by them and when I traveled through Europe I got to see Neuschwanstein in Germany – one of the most photographed castles still around today.  And, I also have a miniature castle collection.  So yeah, I still love them.So it made sense that my first activity product was in a castle theme.  Activity packets are a great resource for teachers.  Not only can they be used as part of the standard classroom curriculum, they can also …

KP Clipart and KP Classroom

Hi – welcome to KP re-branded!  I’ve been creating a lot of great clipart, now with over 80 products in my TpT store … but instead of continuing to just create clipart, I’ve decided I’d also like to make products for use directly in the classroom, so I’ve added KP Classroom!  IWith KP Classroom, I’ll not only be able to brand new teaching resources but also continue to make quality clipart for use by teachers as KP Clipart.  Hey, it’s the best of both worlds!I haven’t posted in the …

Scrappy Buddies

Having spent a lot of time drawing my Friends characters, I decided I needed a change – not only to make some younger-looking kids, but also as a creative challenge to myself.  I’ll be the first to admit my OCD-tendencies, but this clipart journey has already got me believing I can do things I didn’t know I had in me.  All along I told Julie that I don’t really do “cute”, but with so many products now behind me, and me feeling more confident in my abilities, I …

Are Using Custom Social Media Buttons Legal?

Custom blog designs are known to offer styles and colors for social media buttons (like Facebook and Instagram), but are these actually legal?  How about custom sets of Pinterest, Twitter or YouTube buttons?  I’ve been thinking about a new blog design (what I have now is one of the “standard” templates, although one I really like) and I’ve been looking at a lot of blogs, particularly teacher blogs of my fellow TpT’ers.  Most of the custom blogs I’ve seen have stylized social media icons to fit the design …

Teachers Pay Teachers Conference in Las Vegas 2015 #tptvegas15

Let me just say, right at the start, the TpT conference was awesome! To start with, its been about 4 1/2 years since I’ve been in Las Vegas.  That trip didn’t go so well as out stay at the Monte Carlo wasn’t a great one.  We determined the Vegas hotels were now more interested in making a buck than good customer service and we thought we’d never go to Vegas again … that is, until TpT.  Last year, Julie attended TpT Vegas 2014 (by herself – I stayed home …

Ready for Vegas, Baby!

Last year, Julie went to the first annual Teachers Pay Teachers Conference in Las Vegas, without me.  It’s not as if she didn’t ask, but I had the kids that weekend and the extra plane ticket just wasn’t in the budget.  Plus, I wasn’t really in the business so while Julie was at the conference I didn’t know what I’d be doing all day.So, this year, with the teachers clipart business starting to take off, I’m going with her to this year’s conference!  We made our plans back …
